Big Buddha Phuket

The 45-meter tall white marble statue, known as Big Buddha Phuket, will surprise you not only with its gigantic size but also with the view of the islands that surround Phuket.

The panoramic view, coupled with the wind thanks to the altitude, is a must-have experience if you’re ever in Phuket, Thailand.

Big Buddha Phuket

Having driven all the way up to the Big Buddha Phuket, I was surprised and loved the view. It was also a great ‘escape’ from the highly humid weather of April as the breeze up there was really cool and lovely.

There are souvenir shops as well as many indoor things to look at at this Buddhist temple. It’s a beautiful place with breathtaking sceneries.

MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

This redesigned MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from 2017 is one of the coolest gadgets I’ve ever used. Unfortunately, while it nails the look and performance department, it didn’t fare so well in the reliability area.

Tracking a flight

Aviation technology has always fascinated me. From booking a flight that can happen from a million different places to how a flight is tracked all over the world, it has never failed to amaze me. Recently, I discovered this cool site where you can track the live status of any flight that’s currently airborne. As my brother headed for Germany, his first flight from Bangladesh did not have a tracker it in, but his second flight did have a tracker. As a result, as you can see above, I was able to view the live position of his flight just like he was able to view it on his personal monitor for the in-flight entertainment system.

When the flight had a tracker, it became a lot easier just to watch where the aircraft currently is.

MacBook Pro speakers

One of the coolest things about the new MacBook Pro is the quality of the speakers. The first few times I played music after getting it, I literally had to look at it and be like wow that’s something! Especially at the 15-inch model, the bass is pretty great for a laptop.

“Today” at Mermaid Beach Resort

Continuing yesterday’s photo post, here’s another cool thing that you’ll encounter after entering the Mermaid Beach Resort premises. It’s a nice “Today” view made of wooden panels that gives you important information about the day, including the high tide and low tide time for your safety at the beach.

Amex Lounge at Shahjalal International Airport

One of the perks — not that there are many — of getting a City Bank American Express Credit Card (Gold) is that when you’re leaving the country, you can enjoy a somewhat luxurious lounge at the Shahjalal International Airport.

The lounge is pretty calm and beautiful. It has a good selection of free food that you can eat before you start your journey. There’s free WiFi with adequate speed to do some heavy browsing.

The lounge is accessible after you cross the immigration point, so you will likely not be spending a lot of time in there as you can only cross immigration after you’ve checked in, which is no more than a couple of hours before the departure time.

Why did I say that there aren’t many perks of getting an Amex card? Well, turns out, in Bangladesh, most merchants accept either Visa or MasterCard. American Express is not accepted as widely as Visa and MasterCard. Not that you can live without carrying cash in Bangladesh, but those places that do accept card transaction, they usually don’t support Amex cards, which is a bummer.
